Understanding permission levels and what you can do in AutomaDoc.

AutomaDoc respects your Lark Base permissions. Your access level determines what you can do:

  • Create new templates
  • Upload and modify template files
  • Configure template settings (PDF, compression, save location)
  • Delete templates
  • Generate documents from any template
  • Generate documents from existing templates
  • View template list and settings (read-only)
  • Cannot create, modify, or delete templates

If you have View-only access, you will see:

  • A lock icon next to templates
  • A “View only” message instead of edit buttons
  • No Create Template option

To create or modify templates, you need Editor access on the Lark Base. Ask the Base owner to:

  1. Open the Base in Lark.
  2. Click the Share button.
  3. Find your name in the collaborator list.
  4. Change your permission from Can view to Can edit.

Due to Lark API restrictions:

  • Editors who don’t have permission to share the Base may be detected as viewers.
  • This is a Lark platform limitation, not an AutomaDoc limitation.
  • Workaround: ask the Base owner to grant you temporary sharing permissions.
